Professional Range - Extreme Duty Carbon Steel C45

These high strength steel slides have been designed to work under conditions of extreme shock and vibration, particularly applications of under slung battery boxes on trains and heavy drawers on specialist vehicles. The DTS range has the tried and tested 'I' beam format where strength and rigidity is required with minimal slide deflection. This method of manufacture is far superior to other processes where slides are made from rolled or drawn 'C' sections which are liable to failure on extreme applications.

Our Professional Range steel slides have all metal parts in their construction; subsequently, they are suitable for hi-temp/oven applications. Maximum recommended temperature is 250°C with the slides freely mounted to allow for steel expansion. Suitable hi-temp grease is also applied upon request. Zinc plating on the beams will breakdown at 150°C, so other methods of corrosion protection should be considered, such as stainless steel. Please consult our sales engineers.

As an industry first, Sliding Systems can now supply advanced FEA analysis reports for all products within the Professional Range. This will enable the design engineer to accurately calculate peak loading, deflection and operating forces within their bespoke projects.

The Professional Range is available in a number of formats which offer extensions from 50/70% through to 100/120%, 150% and even 200% of the slide's closed length. We offer bi-directional extension as standard. Our slides are tested to destruction and we confidently work up to 2,410 kg with the largest profile. Load calculations are based upon 1% deflection of the slide's closed length when fully loaded per extended pair. This rises to approximately 2% on our 150 and 200% extensions due to the multiple beams. Our slides are load tested spaced 700mm apart. The entire range is manufactured from high grade carbon steel type C45 E+C which ensures a slide with strong raceways, fit for the industrial purpose they were designed.

Solid section 'I' beam slides are excellent at working under conditions of severe shock & vibration, with a strong resistance to axial/torque loading at full extension. Steel slides have an electrolytic alkaline zinc protection, as detailed below. Standard ball bearings are chrome plated steel with an option to upgrade to stainless steel 316L. This suits applications such as train battery boxes where solid section stainless steel slides are beyond budget.

We manufacture steel slides from cold drawn profile, which is milled to provide accurate tolerances. Investment in state-of-the-art production facilities allows us to mill up to 3 metres in length. In-house plating facilities, also to 3 metres, provides for fast and efficient production lead-times. The Professional Range slides in steel, stainless & aluminium, have all metal parts as standard. There are no plastic parts used, so working temperature range for carbon steel is –20°C to +250°C provided the necessary lubricants are applied. We supply the slides un-lubricated for special requirements.

All Professional Range slides are fitted with internal end stops to retain the beams when in the closed and fully extended positions. There are heavy duty end bolts to secure the slides when stowed and solid steel pins which locate at the rear bearing within the cages to prevent the beams detaching. Our end bolts/pins are tested to support the stated loads at operational speeds below 0.3m/s.

Standard Professional Range steel slides are now RoHS & REACH certified to withstand over 1,000 hours corrosion protection, until the appearance of red rust. This is due to the investment made in our own state of the art electrolytic alkaline zinc processing facility. Core steel C45 E+C, with a layer depth of 10-12 microns conforming to DIN EN ISO 9227 neutral salt spray testing. No white rust appearance within 120 hours. No red rust within 1,032 hours. Request stainless steel 316L ball bearings to maximise this protection. Beyond this, we can offer nickel plate or an interchangeable range of all stainless steel 316L slides.

Our Front Handle Locking System has been developed to work with the Professional Range as a positive, rugged means of securing the drawer. No more finger catching or long lead times having slides manufactured. The system can be supplied to lock the drawer in, out or both.

Extreme Duty Drawer Slides are sold as single units, not a pair. DTS40, 50 & 60 key length slides are usually available on a same working day despatch, supported by high levels of stock. Please allow 5-6 weeks manufacture for OEM volumes and all other slides in this range. Stock is fast moving and constantly fluctuating; please contact our sales dept if a next day shipment has to be guaranteed. For volume OEM discounts, please consult our sales dept.
